The legal protections provided by the passage of Proposition 215 (Compassionate Use Act of 1996) in California are limited. Consult an attorney, if you have questions about your personal situation. Both Medical Marijuana users and their primary caregivers are eligible for these ID cards. Santa Cruz County is administering the California State Medical Cannabis Cards. State cards MUST be renewed annually.

To obtain an ID card you must schedule an appointment

Call the Medical Cannabis User Identification Card Program at 454-3431.  Appointments will be scheduled Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 1pm - 4pm in Santa Cruz. Please leave a message and a staff person will call you back promptly to schedule a half hour appointment.
