RESIDENTIAL or In-Patient Programs usually require a commitment of at least 30 days and typically include room and board. Through intensive counseling and group interactions, addicts/alcoholics learn how to regain control of their lives using key recovery tools. Most programs follow the 12 steps of AA. Some residential programs are staffed to provide addicts with detoxification services to help through the early stages of withdrawal.
The goal of all recovery programs is to help the addict recover from drug/alcohol abuse by addressing the underlying issues that contribute to addiction. These programs remove the addict from the environment and acquaintances that enabled their addiction allowing the recovering addict to focus on their addictive behavior instead of their drug use.
Most programs are staffed with a team of drug abuse, and alcohol abuse expert professionals in addiction recovery. Programs combine a sober living environment with intensive group counseling that treats each participant with respect, dignity and confidentiality.
