What
is the CHDP Immunization Schedule?
The CHDP Immunization Schedule lists the names of the vaccines and the
times of administration that the CHDP Program recommends. If children do
not start their immunizations on schedule, there are recommendations to
help them catch up.

What
are the diseases that the immunizations prevent?
They are polio, diptheria, tetanus, whooping cough (pertussis),
hepatitis A & B, hemophilus influenza B infections (HIB or
meningitis vaccine), chicken pox (varicella), measles, mumps and rubella
(3 day measles).
There
are a lot of vaccinations recommended; are they all required?
Most are required for school entry. Sometimes, there are reasons not to
give a vaccine. This should be discussed with your CHDP health
professional. You can also view other immunization sites to obtain more
information. Vaccine

What
are the risks of immunizations?
Each type of vaccine has its own risks; most of them are very small. The
CHDP Program has carefully studied all childhood immunizations to select
ones that are safe and effective in preventing serious childhood
diseases. The health professional performing the CHDP examination is
required to provide a family with information regarding the
immunizations to be given at the visit. If a family has a question, it
should be answered before a vaccine is given to the child.
Do
the recommendations change?
Yes. New vaccines or improved ways of giving old vaccines are being
developed. Your
CHDP health professional is informed regularly of any changes.
