VACCINE TIMING OF IMMUNIZATIONS
Hepatitis A * 1st dose
(for international travelers, at least 4 weeks before departure)
2nd dose
6-12 months after 1st dose
Hepatitis B 1st dose 2nd dose
at least 1 month after 1st dose
3rd dose
at least 5 months after 2nd dose
Influenza One dose given annually, usually September through December, to adults >=50 years of age and those younger with chronic illness/at high risk.*
Measles, Mumps, Rubella ** 1st dose 2nd dose
28 days or more after 1st dose
Pneumococcal One dose given to those >= 65 years of age.
1st dose for those 2-64 years of age with chronic illness/at high risk.*
One "booster" dose given 5 years after the first dose (only applies to persons who were 2-64 years of age at the time of the 1st dose).
Tetanus, Diphtheria (Td) Three dose initial series (if not given in childhood): Booster series:
1st dose 2nd dose
1-2 months after 1st dose
3rd dose
6-12 months after 2nd dose
Every 10 years thereafter
Varicella *** for susceptible individuals **** 1st dose 2nd dose
28 days or more after 1st dose

Refer to ACIP guidelines for specific vaccine recommendations.

* Consult your doctor to determine your level of risk.
** Should not be given to pregnant women; pregnancy should be avoided for 3 months following receipt of MMR vaccine.
*** Should not be given to pregnant women; pregnancy should be avoided for 1 month following receipt of varicella vaccine.
**** Susceptible individuals include adults who have not been immunized previously and who do not have a reliable history of chickenpox.
